Compensation CO₂ Gelwar Farm

Gelwar Farm complements Nguel du Saloum’s ecotourism with an agroecological initiative aimed at offsetting CO₂ emissions and promoting food self-sufficiency.
Location: Mar Soulou, a rural community on the island of Mar Lodj.

What do we do?
  • Plant and distribute fruit trees
  • Grow fresh produce in community gardens
  • Raise animals (chickens, cows, horses, donkeys)
  • Provide training and awareness for local youth

Why does it matter?
Agriculture on the island has declined due to a lack of infrastructure and the rise of tourism. Gelwar Farm aims to prove that sustainable food production is possible while creating jobs and strengthening food security.

Ecotourism & Sustainability
The farm offsets traveler emissions and offers visits to showcase the project—a way to connect nature, culture, and sustainability.
